Service Learning in a Middle School Classroom

In this interactive session see how Middle School students were inspired to raise over $3500 for children in West, TX and Moore, OK,  send school supplies to orphans in Afghanistan, and create long-term media sources for charitable donations.   After a year of 1:1 iPads in our classroom, students engaged in Service Learning to "Make the World a Better Place."  Attendees will learn how to inspire altruism in teenagers, acquire lesson plans and assessment tools applicable to all types of Service Learning. Actual students will be on hand presenting their projects from the year!  In addition, numerous Service Learning resources will be provided.

Tanna Fiske taught 8th grade American History for 13 year before becoming an Educational Technologist in Eanes ISD. Tanna brings her experience teaching in a 1:1 iPad classroom. She has practical, real-life lessons to share.
